In 2009, a seed of faith was planted. A group of Mie people living in the bustling Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex gathered. They dreamt of a place where their community could connect, a spiritual home away from home. This dream blossomed into the Mie Baptist Church, right here at 802 Bellaire Boulevard in Lewisville. The church officially opened its doors in 2014. It quickly became a vibrant hub for the Mie community, which numbers between 6,000 and 7,000 in the area. Mie Baptist Church serves a congregation of 442 members. It’s part of the larger Chin Baptist Churches of the United States of America and falls under the Southern Area region. Leading this flock is Pastor Tha Cung Nung. His journey to Mie Baptist Church is a testament to his dedication. He began his pastoral career in Tiphul Baptist Church, then served as Youth Director and led Hospital and Prison ministries in Hakha. He even ministered to the Mie Christian Fellowship in Malaysia before finally arriving in Lewisville in 2015. Pastor Tha Cung Nung’s educational background is impressive. He holds degrees from Zomi Theological College, Myanmar Institute of Theology, Christ For the Nation Institute in Dallas, and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Dallas Baptist University. Mie Baptist Church isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a center for community, a beacon of hope, and a testament to the power of faith. It’s a place where the Mie people can come together to celebrate their shared heritage and find solace in their shared beliefs.
