Born from the Pentecostal movement New River Church boasts a rich multicultural heritage. It thrived during the wave of the Holy Spirit that swept the UK in the 1980s and 1990s. That spiritual energy continues to this day. New River’s history is deeply rooted in North London. It began near the actual New River. After a few years in Wood Green and then Muswell Hill it found its current home. In 2006 it merged with Croyland Evangelical Church. This led to its current location on Croyland Road in Edmonton. The church has grown significantly. It’s now an important part of the Edmonton community.
New River isn’t just a building. It’s a vibrant community. It embraces family. The church views the Kingdom of God as a family not an organization. This is reflected in its many programs. There’s POD a Thursday night youth group during term time. Tiddlers is a Monday morning toddler group for mums and their little ones. The church also supports missions globally. These range from Sri Lanka to Lebanon California and Dubai. Despite its size it has a remarkably wide reach. New River is also actively involved in its local community through Inside Out. This street outreach program shares the Gospel and offers prayer and support.
The church values the presence of God above all else. This is central to everything they do. Their worship nights on the third Sunday of the month are a testament to this. These services are described as pure worship a time to focus solely on Jesus. New River strongly believes in witnessing and sharing the good news of Jesus. They’re a local church with a global vision serving their community while supporting missionaries around the world.
Their faith is deeply rooted in the Nicene Creed. They also adhere to the Evangelical Alliance’s statement of faith. New River Church is a member of several organizations. These include the Enfield Church Leaders Network Street Pastors and Pray London. Their commitment to community partnership is evident in their affiliations. This showcases their dedication to their local and global missions. New River is more than a place of worship. It’s a living testament to faith community and global impact. A beacon of hope in Edmonton.
