“At se på månen, skyer omsider, at kunne trække vejret.” This haiku, inscribed on the edge of the water basin, perfectly encapsulates the essence of Månens nat. The sculpture, crafted by the renowned Japanese-Danish artist Jun-Ichi Inoue, dominates the space in front of Hadsten Kulturhus Sløjfen. Månens nat, meaning “Moon’s Night”, is more than just a sculpture. It’s a poetic dialogue between nature and human artistry. Crafted from robust Bornholm granite, the moon emerges from the rough-hewn stone, mirroring itself in the tranquil water below. The circular motifs of the sculpture contrast beautifully with the sharp lines and right angles of the surrounding Sløjfen and plaza. Sadly, the water basin is now dry. Despite this, Månens nat retains its captivating presence, a testament to Inoue’s mastery and a poignant reminder of the beauty found in contrasting elements.
