Unearthed, but not forgotten Trekroner Langdysse stands as a silent testament to a time long past. This megalithic monument dates back to between 3500 and 2800 BC. It emerged as part of the Funnel Beaker Culture. Trekroner Langdysse lies near the edge of the Store Haresskov forest. You can find it in Hareskovby in the Fures\u00f8 Kommune on the Danish island of Zealand.

Trekroner Langdysse stretches approximately 21.0 by 9.0 meters. It rises about 1.0 meter high. This long dolmen features two chambers. At the western end sits a rectangular chamber. It has a short passage on the south side acting as a transverse chamber within the barrow.

The chamber’s remaining part consists of two large side stones. An end stone from a dolmen is also there. It measures about 2.5 by 1.75 meters. The interior height reaches 1.2 meters. The other chamber measures about 1.5 by 1.5 meters. It is bordered by two side stones in the west. A side stone to the east is also there. An end stone to the south completes it.

Fifteen stones remain from the barrow’s kerbstones. These remnants are on all four sides. Most of them are gone. Within one chamber incomplete bones were found. They belonged to five adults and five children. These remains date back to 3280 BC.

Imagine the rituals performed here millennia ago. Picture the community gathering to honor their dead. Feel the connection to ancestors. They built this monument with great effort.

The stones of Trekroner Langdysse whisper stories of ancient beliefs. They evoke a sense of wonder. Consider the lives of those whose remains rest within. What were their hopes and fears? What did they make of their existence?

As you stand before Trekroner Langdysse contemplate the passage of time. Reflect on the enduring power of human connection. This ancient site reminds us of our shared history. It links us to those who came before. Let’s honor their memory by preserving this treasure for generations to come.
