Time to step back into Marseille’s past. We are standing at Rue Jules Isaac. This street holds more stories than you might imagine.
Rue Jules Isaac is named after Jules Isaac. He was a prominent French historian. He lived from 1877 to 1963.
Before it was Rue Jules Isaac, this road had other names. It was once called Ancien chemin de Mazargues. Another name was Chemin du Four-Neuf. This translates to “Road of the New Oven”. The name came from an oven dating back to 1790. It was located in one of the street’s villas.
The street stretches for 1,020 meters. It is a narrow road, only 7 meters wide. Rue Jules Isaac runs parallel to Boulevard Michelet. It connects Boulevard Luce to Boulevard de la Concorde.
A significant landmark sits on Rue Jules Isaac. At numbers 92 and 94, you will find OM Campus. This was formerly the Stade Paul-Le Cesne. Since 2018, it has been the training ground for Olympique de Marseille’s women’s team. It also hosts the club’s youth academy. These young players are called “minots”.
Living on Rue Jules Isaac offers a unique Marseille experience. You can find apartments here. Some offer balconies and parking. The street’s location provides easy access to Mazargues. Shops and beaches are nearby.
Rue Jules Isaac is more than just a street. It’s a journey through Marseille’s history. It connects the past with the present. Take a moment to appreciate the layers of history beneath your feet.
