Whispers of ancient wisdom surround Vihara Buddha Dharma Gotama. This isn’t just any temple. It’s a 15-acre forest monastery a sanctuary of serenity. Founded in 1998 Vihara Buddha Dharma Gotama dedicates itself to the study and practice of Buddha’s original teachings.
Vihara Buddha Dharma Gotama is more than a building. It’s a living testament to Buddhist principles. It’s a place for monks nuns and lay people to deepen their understanding. Daily life here is a structured retreat. Residents engage in hours of meditation work and Dhamma-Vinaya study. The Vihara’s unique characteristic is its absence of statues. This reflects the commitment to the Buddha’s original teachings. In 2013 an additional 5 acres of land expanded the already expansive grounds.
The Vihara’s daily rhythm is a blend of spiritual practice and mindful work. Four hours are dedicated to group meditation. Two hours are allocated to maintaining the monastery. One hour is devoted to studying and discussing the Buddha’s teachings. It’s a life of simplicity and dedication. The Vihara operates differently from a typical meditation center. It’s not organized around weekly retreats. Instead it’s a place for an everyday retreat for those seeking deeper spiritual connection.
Visitors are welcome but mindful participation is expected. Guests are generally welcomed from 8 am to 1 pm daily. Those wishing to visit outside these hours need to call beforehand. Consultations with the abbot are available from 12 pm to 1 pm daily.
