In 2003, John Lima and Marcela Luna bought this property. It was known as “Pedra do Porquinho” back then. Though closed to the public, its natural beauty was well-known. They wanted to share this beauty. So, they opened the stone to the public.

Initially, a parking lot and a new staircase were built. More and more people visited Pedra do Porquinho. John and Marcela decided to change the name. They renamed it “Pedra de São Francisco”. They brought an image of Saint Francis. It has been protecting the site since then.

The location’s energy improved noticeably. The next steps involved expanding the parking lot. They placed signs along the region’s roads. A small snack bar was built. It included a restroom for visitors.

The community around Pedra de São Francisco grew. An investment was made in the current restaurant’s infrastructure. The Mirante Pedra de São Francisco tourist space was created.
