Could a church have two beginnings? For Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, the answer is a resounding yes. This house of worship, nestled in the heart of Dallas, boasts a unique history. Chapel Hill United Methodist Church wasn’t always known by its current name. It was born on July 1, 1975, from the union of two congregations: Central and Evangel United Methodist Churches. This merger, guided by the Rev. Dr. Neil L. Irons, led to the construction of a new sanctuary. This new building, completed and dedicated in September 1979, became the physical embodiment of a united community. Over the years, Chapel Hill United Methodist Church has been a beacon of faith for many, led by a succession of six senior pastors. Each pastor has left their mark, contributing to the church’s legacy of inclusivity and spiritual growth. Today, Chapel Hill United Methodist Church stands as a testament to the power of unity and the enduring spirit of faith.
