“Peace be with you.” Welcome to this lovely place called St Aidan’s Catholic Church. Located on Portnalls Road, it has a history spanning over a century. St Aidan’s is a place where faith has flourished for generations. It was originally built in 1922 but replaced by a new design in 1966. This new design was a more modern interpretation of the original Gothic Revival church and was completed by architect John Newton. Although this newer, modern design is a far cry from the first church, St Aidan’s has always provided its community a place of worship and solace. You can still see the remnants of the original Gothic Revival building around this place, a testament to its fascinating history.
