Is this not a grand old building? This, my friends, is Meadowbank Church of Scotland. It boasts a rich history woven into the very fabric of Edinburgh. The church we see today wasn’t always known as Meadowbank Church of Scotland. Originally called Abbeyhill United Free Church, it first opened its doors in December 1900. Designed by the talented R M Cameron, the building itself is quite impressive. In fact, it’s recognized and protected as a category B listed building. Meadowbank Church of Scotland has seen its share of change over the years. In 2017, it went through a significant transition when it merged with London Road Church. This union brought about the current name, Meadowbank Church of Scotland, reflecting a new chapter in its story. The church’s history is fascinating, from its architectural significance to its evolving identity. It stands as a testament to the enduring power of faith and community in the heart of Edinburgh.
