Imagine the year is 1998. Jakarta is in turmoil. Yet, amidst the chaos, a beacon of hope begins to rise. Right here stands Masjid Jami Al Hidayah Al Ma Muriah. It started as a humble mushollah, a small prayer room named Al-Hidayah.
The first stone was laid in April 1998. Construction commenced on May 14th, 1998 during Jakarta’s riots. This makes the Masjid Jami Al Hidayah Al Ma Muriah a true testament to faith amidst adversity. It was built through the personal funds of the late H. Ayat bin H. Kusen and his wife, Hj. Murni binti H. Muyan. Their dedication laid the foundation for what you see today.
Initially, the community needed a place for Friday prayers. The nearby Al-Ikhlas mosque was slated for relocation due to the Banjir Kanal Timur project. Residents near Jalan Raya Haji Miran would have been left without a convenient mosque. Thus, in 2008, Al-Hidayah transformed into Masjid Jami Al Hidayah Al Ma Muriah. To mark this transition, the renowned preacher Kyai H. Zainudin MZ officiated the inauguration.
After the passing of H. Ayat bin H. Kusen and Hj. Murni binti H. Muyan, their heirs stepped up. They fulfilled their parents’ wish. The Masjid Jami Al Hidayah Al Ma Muriah was officially endowed. This act ensured its continued service to the community.
On December 14, 2016, Hj. Ayanih, representing the family, formally dedicated the mosque. H. Supandi Bin Dowar received the endowment on behalf of the Nadzir. The ceremony took place at the Duren Sawit Religious Affairs Office. This secured the Masjid Jami Al Hidayah Al Ma Muriah’s future as a place of worship.
The land spans approximately 132 square meters. Its official Wakaf Deed number is Kua.09.02/5/W.2a/03/XII/2016. H. Pahlawan J. Daulae, Head of the Religious Affairs Office, validated it.
