From six families huddled together in 1963, Knollwood Christian Church has blossomed into a vibrant community. Knollwood Christian Church stands on the very ground where the Suburban Baptist Church once stood, along Highway 7. The church has seen transformations over the years. The most dramatic was in 1984. The original building was almost entirely rebuilt. Only one wall remained as a testament to the church’s past. During this period of reconstruction, the Knollwood Plaza’s basement became a temporary sanctuary for the congregation. Knollwood Christian Church isn’t just a place of Sunday worship. It’s a hub of activity throughout the week. Sunday services commence at 10:00 am. You can also catch the sermons on YouTube. Mondays offer a Life Group focusing on generosity, beginning with a meal at 5:30 pm and followed by a study session from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. This takes place in the church basement and on Zoom. Wednesdays are dedicated to prayer time at 6:30 pm in the church basement. Thursdays, the men gather for breakfast at Perkins on Highway 7. And on Saturdays, “God’s Gals” meet. Knollwood Christian Church is more than just a single building. The main building houses the worship center, library, a nursery, a small kitchen, and a fellowship hall. There are handicap-accessible entrances on both levels. Adjacent to the main building is the YES Center. Donated to the church in 1992, this building serves a multitude of purposes. The YES Kids Program was established in 1995, supported by the church, grants, individuals, and fundraising efforts. The YES Center’s upper level houses staff offices, a prayer room, and spaces for youth and children’s activities. The lower level is a vibrant youth center. It’s equipped with a pool table, basketball hoop, foosball, pinball machines, and video games. The lower level even boasts a stage that frequently hosts concerts by local bands. One of the church’s most interesting aspects is the connection to its past. Senior Minister Brian Lindquist actually grew up in Knollwood Christian Church and has been a pastor there since 1983, providing a living link to the church’s rich history.
