In the 1930s, a young, ambitious architect named Graham R Dawbarn designed a building that would become a symbol of speed and progress. That building, standing right here before us, is the Former Brooklands Air Control Tower. This isn’t just any old building. The Former Brooklands Air Control Tower, with its distinctive “art deco” design, once served as the Aero Clubhouse for the Brooklands Air Field. Imagine the excitement, the roar of engines, as aviation pioneers like Amelia Earhart and Amy Johnson graced its doorstep. The Aero Clubhouse, later known as the Control Tower, witnessed England’s Golden Age of Aviation. It saw daring flights take off and, sadly, some that never returned. Today, the Former Brooklands Air Control Tower stands as a testament to that era, a reminder of the days when the sky was the limit.
