Opened in 2005, Kulturhaus Milbertshofen stands as a testament to community spirit. This vibrant hub isn’t just a building. It’s the realization of a dream envisioned back in 1986 when the city council decided Milbertshofen needed a Bürgerhaus, a community center. The path to Kulturhaus Milbertshofen wasn’t easy. Years of debate and financial hurdles stood in the way. Yet, the community persevered. Finally, in 2002, the foundation stone was laid. Today, Kulturhaus Milbertshofen thrives as Munich’s largest independently run district center. The heart of this 4,700 square meter space is its impressive event hall. Imagine attending a concert, a captivating play, or a hilarious cabaret performance in this adaptable venue. The stage effortlessly transforms to host up to 300 guests. From seminars and meetings to large conferences, the flexible design and built-in technology of Kulturhaus Milbertshofen accommodate a wide range of events. Need a break? The Kulturcafé on the ground floor offers refreshments. Musicians will appreciate the soundproof studio on the second floor, while the third floor houses additional seminar and meeting rooms. And there’s more! Adjacent to the hall is the Glaspalast, an arena-like space used as a football pitch. When the weather permits, the stage of the main hall can be opened towards the Glaspalast, creating a unique indoor-outdoor experience. In 2007, the square in front of Kulturhaus Milbertshofen was renamed Curt-Mezger-Platz, honoring a key figure in its history. Kulturhaus Milbertshofen truly embodies its motto as a place “for cultural creators, artists, musicians, educational and cultural events, as well as clubs, initiatives and institutions.” It’s a beacon of creativity, learning, and community in the heart of Milbertshofen. The accessible building is easily reached by public transport via the U2 to Milbertshofen station or various bus routes.
