Sweet Home The Pinnacle of Praise has a rich history. Its roots trace back to January 8, 1905. Twenty-two Christians from Good Hope Baptist Church came together then. They formed a new assembly in Sprinkle Texas. This was just nine miles northeast of Austin. Reverend S. W. Wormley traveled from Sprinkle to Round Rock. He became the first pastor of this new church. Religious leaders like Rev. L. L. Campbell and Rev. Sam Clark helped organize it. Bro. Mitchell Mays donated the land. He named this haven Sweet Home Baptist Church. It was a place of unity for spiritual, educational, and social needs.
In the early 1940s Sweet Home continued to grow. The congregation bought a Lutheran Church building from Hutto. They moved it to 706 West Morrell. The church remained there until 1960. Then it was moved to 700 S I-35 to make room for I-35. Sweet Home stayed at this location for 80 years.
The church purchased a new facility on May 12, 1985. It was located at 800 Deepwood Drive. Sweet Home members marched 1.2 miles in a candlelight procession. Participants ranged from infants to 79-year-olds. This site served Sweet Home for twenty-two years.
Under Pastor Dante D. Wright I’s leadership Sweet Home outgrew its space. The church moved to a temporary location. It was at 2000 S I-H 35 in Round Rock. This location was called Hester’s Crossing.
On December 11 2010 the church broke ground for a new worship center. The location was 3200 Sunrise Road.
The inaugural worship service was held on July 15 2012. The grand opening celebration followed on November 11 2012.
