Can you hear the cheers? The First Baptist Athletic Complex isn’t just a field. It’s a crucible where young athletes forge their dreams. Located right behind the Buckner Children’s Home, the complex is easy to find. Just take I-30 East to the Buckner Blvd/Loop 12 exit south. Then go left on Samuell Blvd, and there it is. The First Baptist Athletic Complex is more than just a place for sports. It’s a testament to the First Baptist Church of Dallas’s commitment to community. First Baptist has been a cornerstone of Dallas since 1868. The church has a rich history, including once being one of the largest churches in the US during the 20th century. Even figures like Billy Graham graced its membership rolls. While the main sanctuary downtown underwent major renovations after an implosion in 2010 and a fire in 2024, this complex continues to thrive. Here at the First Baptist Athletic Complex, the spirit of competition and camaraderie intertwines. The home team, the First Baptist Saints, share this field with the Tyler Street Crusaders. They battle it out on the grass field, under the Texas sun. The complex boasts a track for runners and a soccer field. While it doesn’t have a video scoreboard or a press box elevator, it offers wheelchair access and a capacity of 1,500. The First Baptist Athletic Complex is a symbol of perseverance and growth. Much like the church itself, which has continuously adapted and rebuilt throughout the years. This complex echoes that spirit, providing a space for young athletes to learn, grow, and achieve their full potential.
