Established in 1968, the Japan University of Economics, fondly known as Nikkeidai, started as the Daiichi University of Economics. Right here, at the Fukuoka campus, known as the Korokan, we stand on the grounds of a university with a rich history. This isn’t just any university. Nikkeidai ranks 4th in Japan for its international student population. The Tokyo campus especially boasts a student body where over 80% hail from overseas. This global focus gives Nikkeidai a unique energy. Imagine students from all corners of the world coming together to discuss economics, business, and everything in between. The university went through another name change in 2007, becoming the Fukuoka University of Economics, before finally settling on its current name in 2010. Nikkeidai is more than just classrooms and lectures. The Korokan has its own beautiful English garden, a space where students can relax and perhaps even find inspiration amidst the greenery. This Fukuoka campus is also home to the university’s Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Management, offering a wide range of undergraduate programs. If you were to stroll through Korokan today, you might see students rushing to class, studying in the library, or enjoying the tranquility of the garden. The Japan University of Economics has witnessed the dreams and aspirations of countless students. They have helped shape the next generation of economists and business leaders. Their influence extends far beyond these walls.
