Tucked away in the bustling heart of Quezon City, the Blessed in Christ Evangelical Church has a story to tell. It’s a story of faith, resilience, and a surprising connection to a starry night on a distant island. Our journey begins not here, but on the island of Mindoro. A young boy named David gazed at the night sky, mesmerized by the countless stars. He felt an intuitive sense of a Creator. Years later, that boy, David, would become Pastor David, the founder of the very church we stand before. His mother, Eden, encountered a Christian bookstore and embraced Christianity. This event brought a Bible into their home, sparking David’s own spiritual journey. He attended Sunday school, captivated by the story of David and Goliath. As a teenager, David dedicated his life to Christ, a decision that shaped his future. He moved to Manila for university, studying psychology while simultaneously attending Bible school. It was there, while reading Ephesians, that he felt a call to ministry. The Blessed in Christ Evangelical Church wasn’t built overnight. Pastor David first pastored in Quezon City. His mother, working in real estate, showed him the very land where this church now stands. He felt a divine promise that this land would be his. He began a small house church with Pastor Weely and a handful of members. They shared their faith, facing both acceptance and opposition. Some even threw rocks at their rented meeting spaces. The growing congregation needed a permanent home. Miraculously, the landowner offered to donate the land, fulfilling Pastor David’s earlier vision. The Blessed in Christ Evangelical Church was established in 1991. Their partnership with Compassion International, beginning in 2005, enabled them to expand their reach and provide holistic support to children and families in need. They offer educational opportunities, healthcare assistance, and spiritual guidance. The church continues to thrive, with satellite churches and a congregation that overflows into the street. Their mission is to share the love and salvation of Jesus Christ with the community, striving to alleviate poverty and empower families for generations to come.
