Dallas was growing quickly. The combined congregation benefited from this. There was enough support to build a proper church.
Fundraising was hard because of World War I. But the members were very generous. More than 2,000 people donated. The cornerstone was laid in October 1921. The new church was at Harwood and Ross.
The first service was held on February 7 1926. Back then churches called their worship space a “main auditorium”. But this church called it a “sanctuary”. You can see why when you visit today. It is a beautiful and historic space.
