Here at Saint Michael’s School a vibrant history unfolds. Established in 1916 Saint Michael’s has been a cornerstone of Catholic education. It is a place where children are challenged. They attain the highest possible standards in all areas of life.
Saint Michael’s School is located behind St Michael’s Church. It is an integrated Catholic Primary School. Boys and girls from Year 0 to Year 6 attend.
Originally run by the Religious Order of the Sisters of St Joseph it transitioned to lay staff. The Sisters of St Joseph ran Saint Michael’s until 1977. The Sisters of Cluny were associated with the school until 1993.
Saint Michael’s serves the Roman Catholic Diocese of Auckland. It specifically serves the Remuera and Parnell Parishes. The school reflects a diverse community. Pupils come from many cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. The school has a maximum roll of 270 children.
Saint Michael’s Catholic School is in two buildings. Senior classes occupy the original building. Junior classes learn in the new block. Bishop Patrick Dunn officially opened it on 29 February 2004.
