Underneath the tranquil Parisian sky lies Rue Jules Lamant et Ses Fils, a seemingly ordinary street with an extraordinary past. Don’t let its unassuming facade fool you. This street holds a story of courage, sacrifice, and the enduring strength of family, forever etched in the heart of Neuilly-sur-Marne. Rue Jules Lamant et Ses Fils’s story isn’t just about a street. It’s about the man whose name it bears – Jules Lamant. Jules, a craftsman, a plumber by trade, lived here with his family. When the shadow of World War II fell upon France, Jules and his sons, Albert and Louis, didn’t hesitate to join the Resistance. They became part of the “Armand Spiritualist” network, a group of brave souls fighting for their nation’s freedom. Their bravery led them to the 1st Franc Regiment of Paris, where they risked their lives alongside their comrades. The fight for freedom, however, came at a heavy price. On August 26, 1944, during a fierce battle in Oissery, Jules and his sons, along with several others, were captured. They sought refuge in the ruins of the Boissy castle in the neighboring Forfry. Their refuge, unfortunately, became their final stand. They were discovered and tragically executed. Today, Rue Jules Lamant et Ses Fils stands as a testament to their bravery. It’s a tribute to a father and his sons who gave their lives for their country. Their memory lives on, woven into the very fabric of this quiet street, a reminder that even in the face of darkness, the flame of courage can burn bright.
