In 1921, the Felician Sisters embarked on a remarkable journey. They purchased a sprawling 30-acre plot of land right here in Chicago. Their vision was to establish a sanctuary. The Felician Sisters Convent, also known as the Mother of Good Counsel Convent, began to take shape. Four years later, construction commenced, and by 1927, the magnificent four-story E-shaped brick structure stood proudly. The Felician Sisters Convent was designed to accommodate the entire province of sisters during the summer months. It also housed the novitiate and Good Counsel High School. The Mother of Good Counsel Province relocated from Milwaukee to this impressive new home in Chicago. The Felician Sisters Convent quickly became a cornerstone of the community. Its central chapel, a breathtaking space with a capacity of 700 worshippers, showcases exquisite craftsmanship. In 1995, the Felician Sisters Convent underwent significant renovations. These updates ensured the building remained accessible and comfortable for its aging residents. The Felician Sisters Convent stands as a testament to their enduring mission and their unwavering commitment to serving the community.
