Ever wonder what hides behind the elegant facade of Patio Bullrich? It is more than just a shopping mall. It is a landmark steeped in history.

Patio Bullrich stands on land with a past. Once, Adolfo Bullrich owned this land. He was a businessman and Buenos Aires mayor from 1898 to 1902. Patricia Bullrich is his descendant.

Patricia Bullrich was born in Buenos Aires in 1956. Her father was a cardiologist. Her mother was Julieta Luro Pueyrredon. Patricia comes from two wealthy families. The Pueyrredóns and the Bullrichs. Both sides had important figures in Argentine history.

Patricia was politically active early. She left hockey to join politics. She also worked at Cheburger. She encouraged coworkers to join the food workers’ union.

Patricia’s grandmother took her to meet Ricardo Balbín. He led the Radical Civic Union. But Patricia chose Peronism. She joined the Peronist Youth aged 17.

In 1973, she went to Ezeiza for Juan Perón’s return. She left before the Ezeiza Massacre. She was also at Plaza de Mayo in 1974. Perón expelled left-wing groups from the celebrations.

Patricia was a member of the Montoneros. Her code name was “Cali”. She denies being a member. She says she was just in the Peronist Youth.

In 1975, she was arrested. She spray-painted political messages at Buenos Aires University. She spent six months in prison. She then studied law.

In 1976, a coup established a military dictatorship. The Montoneros organized an attack. Patricia had to be on the scene. She felt followed and escaped.

In 1977, she went into exile. She lived in Brazil, Mexico, Spain and France. She returned to Argentina in 1982.

Patricia Bullrich has held many political roles. She was a National Deputy. She served as Minister of Labour. She was also Minister of Social Security. In 2015, she became Minister of Security. In 2023, Javier Milei appointed her Minister of National Security.
