Was that a dolphin I just saw? Point Leo is known for its stunning location along Western Port Bay. This small town, with a population just shy of 200, offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city. Point Leo has a rich history, dating back to the Bunurong people who called this place Bobbanaring long before European settlers arrived. While a town was proposed here as early as 1869, Point Leo truly began to take shape after World War II. The Woods family, with their newly built house and store, became pioneers in the area’s development. The 1960s saw the rise of Point Leo as a sought-after destination, with camping grounds, hot showers, and a kiosk popping up. For a brief period, from 1969 to 1974, Point Leo even had its own Post Office. Today, this charming town, with its general store, active surf lifesaving club, and boat club, is a testament to its enduring appeal.
