“A beacon of hope.” These words, whispered by a woman named Mrs. Johnson, resonate with the very soul of the True Purpose Missionary Baptist Church. It’s a place that stands as a testament to faith in the heart of Dallas. Founded in 1910 in Prosper, Texas, the church relocated to Dallas in the 1930s. Since then, it’s become a pillar of the community, a welcoming space for all. The church has a rich history of serving those in need.
Pastor Donald R. Parish Sr., a Dallas native, has led the church since 1992. He’s dedicated his life to community service, leading by example, and always encouraging his congregation to volunteer their time. He firmly believes that churches are the heart of their communities, and he acts on that belief by offering various programs that aid the community. The church is active in the local schools, helping students with their studies, offering reading programs, and even providing free summertime camp for children ages 5 to 12. This camp, known as ‘Summer of Hope,’ helps children with their academics, with additional fun activities and learning experiences. The church has played a role in countless lives within the community.
The True Purpose Missionary Baptist Church, with its warm embrace, stands on the corner of North Moore Street, a constant reminder of hope, faith, and community.
