Standing in front of Saint Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, you might not guess its rich history. Saint Mark is a vibrant community of faith in Plano, Texas. It was founded in 1966 by Bishop Thomas K. Gorman. Back then, Plano was a much smaller town, and Catholic families had to attend Mass at a nearby public school. The first parishioners were thrilled to be part of a new parish, experiencing a unique moment in time. Imagine the excitement of the early parishioners as they saw the church building finally completed and dedicated in 1980. Over the years, Saint Mark has grown dramatically, welcoming families from diverse backgrounds and cultures. It’s a testament to their inclusive nature that they offer four of their Masses in Spanish. The church even has a Catholic school that has grown from just 113 students to over 570 today! Saint Mark, with its beautiful architecture and warm community, is a beacon of faith in the heart of Plano.
