From humble beginnings SJK (C) Ping Ming stands tall. This Chinese national-type school in Lima Kedai Johor Bahru has a rich history. It started in 1947 as a simple atap house. Just imagine fifty students and only two teachers.
SJK (C) Ping Ming’s early years were defined by community effort. The School Development Committee led by En Lim Beng Lock renovated the school. Local planters and rubber tappers funded the RM 1600.00 needed. This truly highlights the dedication of the community.
Government grants supplemented this early generosity. RM 18,000.00 helped build classrooms. However more funds were needed. The school continued raising donations. By 1954 more classrooms were built. The student body had grown to 200. The school was thriving.
Throughout the years SJK (C) Ping Ming continued expanding. Donations and government funding fueled significant developments. A hall teacher’s office and a library were built. Later a two-story building was added. Then a four-story building with a multi-purpose hall emerged.
Fundraising events played a crucial role. A performance called Shi Da Yi Yan raised a significant amount. This money was used to further develop the facilities at SJK (C) Ping Ming. The school’s growth reflects the importance placed on education.
The school kept up with the increasing student population. A new canteen and covered walkway were added. These additions ensured student comfort and safety. Even a new sports pavilion and administrative block were built. The school’s continuous expansion shows its commitment to providing quality education. This legacy continues today with its modern facilities and large student body. SJK (C) Ping Ming stands as a testament to community spirit perseverance and the pursuit of education.
