Melbourne is famous for its stunning cityscapes. What better way to view the phenomenal Melbourne skyline than from a lookout? The Bay Lookout provides unique viewpoints for capturing the incredible cityscape.

Melbourne is a fairly flat city. But our city skyline definitely is not. It’s growing taller every year. Every year it’s a new sight to behold. Luckily, there are a number of vantage points and lookouts in and around the city. Early-morning adventurers and late-night cats can go to take in the stunning views from the Bay Lookout.

There are some great lookout points in Melbourne. One can travel to them by public transport or walk from the city center. So, let’s explore the Bay Lookout.

Hobsons Bay is a small open bay in Victoria. It is the northernmost part of the larger Port Phillip Bay. Its western and eastern boundaries are marked by Point Gellibrand in Williamstown and Point Ormond in Elwood respectively. The Yarra River flows into Hobsons Bay.

Hobsons Bay is named after William Hobson. He led the surveying party in Port Philip Bay.

One important aspect of when you plan to visit the Bay Lookout is to go right before sunset. The view is just breathtaking. You will get the chance to see the incredible city transform right below your feet.

If you love strolling at the park and getting a nice view of the city, then the Bay Lookout should be at the top of your list of places you want to visit. This place is trendy for hanging out and socializing among locals and tourists. When you stand at the Bay Lookout, you will get a clear view of Melbourne’s business district. It is home to many offices and skyscrapers. The best thing about this park is that it has a hill. You can quickly climb to the top for a beautiful scenic view of Melbourne’s city and surrounding areas.

Gem Pier has also got some of the best scenic views of the city as well as BBQ and picnic facilities. There is also a playground nearby.

The Sandridge Lookout in Port Melbourne affords visitors shelter from the sun, wind and rain. At the same time it provides them with excellent elevated views of the Melbourne skyline across the bay.

Bayside throws up plenty of spectacular lookouts on the coast. This patch of paradise in Brighton is no different. Green Point also serves up views of the iconic Brighton Beach bathing boxes.

Like with Mount Ridley, you’re going to need a close-to-perfect day to see scintillating views of the city from Burkes Lookout. At night, with the suburbs all lit up and the indistinguishable glow of the city further afield, we think it’s one you just need to check out for yourself.

Melbourne is one city you will never get tired of visiting. The views are extraordinary.
