“This is Croydon Metropolitan College, a real gem in the heart of Croydon. ” The college has a rich history, dating back to 1868 when it started as an art school. It boasts a diverse student body of over 13,000, offering a wide range of courses, from vocational qualifications to higher education. The college’s main building is a striking landmark, with a modern glass facade and a spacious Rotunda, completed in 2012. The Rotunda houses a high-tech recording studio, a performance hall, a modern library, and social and study spaces. It is the largest provider of apprenticeships in the South East. The college has helped shape many lives in Croydon, including that of famous singer-songwriter FKA twigs. “The college is on the doorstep of East Croydon and West Croydon stations, but don’t be fooled by its urban setting – it offers a special kind of learning experience,” concluded the tour guide, his voice echoing from the Rotunda.
