Picture eight hectares. That is about the size of Rupp-hegy. It stands alone surrounded by Budapest’s District XI. This small hill is a natural treasure. It’s the easternmost part of the Csíki Mountains. These hills stretch from Budaörs to South Buda.
Rupp-hegy got its name from a former owner. His name was György Rupp. He was a citizen of Buda. But there is also Pösingermajor nearby. That area is named after Ferenc Pösinger. He arrived in Buda in 1688.
Today, Rupp-hegy is a protected area. It has been under protection since 1977. The Főkert Nonprofit Zrt cares for it now.
