River Valley Church

You’ve probably seen a lot of churches on your travels but River Valley Church is unique. At first glance, it might seem like another humble place of worship, but look closer! It was founded in 2019, replacing the Illinois Valley Evangelical Free Church after 30 years of ministry. The new church was a replanting effort, guided by the Evangelical Free Church of America in the Great Lakes District. The community building where River Valley Church holds its services was initially built in 1990 by a Lutheran Church. The original building has been used by other religious organizations and is now a landmark of the Millgrove area in Victoria, Australia. It’s full of history and a welcoming space. The church is very much a part of the Millgrove community. Pastor Adam Killeen and his team organized monthly meals for the local residents. The “Millgrove Meals” are held on the last Wednesday of each month, with a welcoming atmosphere for families and children. They serve free meals to the community, and the church also offers a variety of other community outreach programs, like a monthly family lunch, a fortnightly Charge Prayer Night, and even a weekly Caravan Ministry. During the Caravan Ministry, members of the local community get together at the Millgrove park for a free sausage sizzle, bacon and egg rolls, as well as coffee and cake. The church aims to give back to the community, with a focus on fellowship, providing support, and lending a helping hand to those in need. River Valley Church represents much more than a Sunday service; it is a constant source of support in the Millgrove community. As you walk by the River Valley Church, remember that this place is more than just a building. It’s a beacon of hope and a symbol of the enduring power of community spirit and shared fellowship that exists in this part of the world.
