Standing on this very spot, it’s almost impossible to imagine that Believers Tabernacle started with a simple gathering. In 1961, four men with a shared vision met to discuss the creation of a new church in Dallas. Can you picture Dr. S. Lewis Johnson, a professor at Dallas Theological Seminary, deep in conversation with Harold Mims, Howard Prier, and James Deen? Believers Tabernacle was born from their shared desire to establish a church grounded in the historical Evangelical Christian faith. The church’s foundation was built on the belief in Sovereign Grace and Premillennialism, emphasizing the transformative power of the Bible. Their vision extended beyond theological discussions. They sought to create a church that lived and breathed the teachings of the Bible. In 1962, their vision materialized. Believers Tabernacle held its first service in the modest auditorium of Betty Hoffman School. This small group of 25 individuals marked the beginning of a journey fueled by faith and commitment. Over time, the congregation grew, prompting a move to their current location on Churchill Way in 1969. Believers Tabernacle stands as a testament to their unwavering dedication to their beliefs.
