Though not a grand avenue, Rue Eugène Henaff holds a special place in the city’s memory. It’s a reminder of Eugène Henaff, a man who dedicated his life to fighting for workers’ rights. He wasn’t just a name on a street sign. He was a symbol of resistance, a politician, and a staunch union leader. His voice resonated within the halls of the Bourse du Travail, particularly in a space named in his honor: the Salle Eugène Henaff. This room, located within the Bourse du Travail’s Varlin Annex on Boulevard du Temple, served as a stage for countless meetings and debates. It was here that Henaff, as the Secretary General of the CGT Union, championed the cause of the working class until 1966. Though he’s gone, his legacy, much like this street, reminds us that even in the quiet corners of a city, the fight for justice and fairness echoes through time.
