Stanhope Primary School

In 1930, Stanhope Primary School first opened its doors. It was hailed as the “show school of Greater Ealing”. Stanhope Primary School stands in the heart of Greenford in the London Borough of Ealing. The school’s namesake, Stanhope Park mansion, has a fascinating connection to the world of tennis. Blanche Bingley-Hillyard, a six-time Wimbledon champion, once called Stanhope Park home. Imagine young Blanche, perhaps practicing her serve on the grounds of the very estate that inspired the name of this school. Today, Stanhope Primary School educates 367 pupils. Ms. Hannah Widdison leads the school as headteacher. She took the helm in September 2022, following Sahreen Siddiqui. The school boasts a diverse student body. A significant 97.2% of the pupils come from ethnic minority backgrounds. This is considerably higher than the 92.9% average at the ten nearest schools. Stanhope Primary School serves children aged 2 to 11. It’s a community school with a mixed-gender intake. About a third of the pupils, specifically 33%, are eligible for free school meals. This reflects the socio-economic makeup of the surrounding area. The school’s capacity is 500 students. The latest Ofsted report, from May 4, 2023, rated Stanhope Primary School as “Good” overall.
