Opened in April 2016 Pratts Bottom Primary School stands proudly. It’s a welcoming sight a hub of learning and laughter. This academy converter school serves children aged 5 to 11. Part of the South Orpington Learning Alliance Multi-Academy Trust it boasts a capacity of 98 pupils. Currently around 74 children attend Pratts Bottom Primary School. Interestingly only about 81% of the children are eligible for free school meals.
Pratts Bottom itself is a quaint village nestled in the London Borough of Bromley. Before 1965 it was part of Kent. The name hints at a valley a bottom and the prominent Pratt family. A tollgate once stood here a reminder of the village’s past. The turnpike cottage was demolished in the 1930s. It still remains a symbol of the village. You can see it depicted on the village sign. Sue Short wrote a book on its history Pratts Bottom A Journey Through Life.

This small village also boasts other amenities such as a village shop and the Bulls Head pub. Sadly the post office closed in 2008. There are also a couple of small churches and a village hall. Pratts Bottom has even made its way onto television. It featured in the ITV drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office.
