Hidden within Küçükçekmece lies Cennet Mahallesi. A neighborhood brimming with life. It’s a place where history whispers through its streets.
Cennet Mahallesi meaning Paradise Neighborhood. A fitting name for this vibrant community. It’s nestled between Yeşilov and Küçükçekmece’s center. It sits north of the E-5 highway. The area boasts a diverse population. People from Bulgaria Bosnia and Albania live here. Trakyans also call Cennet home.
Originally many of its main streets bustled with traffic. This changed in 2003. Hürriyet Caddesi the main thoroughfare closed to through traffic. This transformation aimed to improve the quality of life for residents. The change created a more pedestrian-friendly environment. It enhanced the neighborhood’s charm.
Sadly a piece of Cennet’s past was lost. The area known as Antikalar held Roman ruins. These were unfortunately largely destroyed in the last two decades. Little remains today.
Cennet Mahallesi has seen significant development. In 2008 the Cennet Culture Center opened its doors. It provides cultural and sporting facilities for the community. A branch of the Yenibosna Alevi center also operates here. Two PTT post offices serve the residents. Further improvements occurred in 2012. Renovations to Hürriyet Caddesi were completed that year. The street now is a lively hub for community life.
