Why is Christian Stronghold Baptist Church called a “stronghold”? That’s a question you might ponder as you stand before its doors. This nontraditional church, nestled in northeast Dallas, isn’t named for its physical structure, but for the strength of faith it represents. Founded in 1995 by Pastor Hal Johnson, Sr., Christian Stronghold Baptist Church started as an intimate Bible study group of just seven people. Today, it thrives as a community of over 600 members, living proof of the church’s mission: “To Know Christ and to Make Him Known.” The church’s name, drawn from Nahum 1:7, reflects its role as a source of support and refuge for its members, a “stronghold in the day of trouble”. Pastor Johnson, a man of deep faith and impressive credentials, embodies this strength. He’s not only a pastor but also a community builder. He founded Stronghold Community Development Corp. and Keep the Faith Ministries, demonstrating a commitment to nurturing his community beyond the church walls. Christian Stronghold Baptist Church is more than just a place of worship. It’s a testament to the power of faith, a beacon of hope, and a true stronghold for its community.
