Community Covenant Church began as The Lighthouse Gospel Mission in 1943. Two couples with a shared vision rented a storefront. They wanted to spread their message.

This small mission grew. In 1945 it became The Covenant Gospel Mission. First Covenant Church in Minneapolis sponsored it along with the Northwest Conference. The church continued to grow.

Renewal efforts forced a move. In 1955 a new church building was erected. It stood at the corner of Knox and Olson Highway. The church was renamed Community Covenant Church. But renewal claimed that building too.

Finally on June 6 1965 Community Covenant Church found its home. This present building at 901 Humboldt Avenue North was ready. The congregation could worship here. In March 1980 a new addition was completed. In August 1992 the sanctuary was expanded. This accommodated the increasing church membership.

Community Covenant Church continues to serve. It reaches out to the Near-Northside of Minneapolis. The church builds on the work of those who came before.
