It has been updated to include Harrison who died in 2001. The plaque reads: “John Lennon, MBE, 1940-1980, and George Harrison, MBE, 1943-2001, worked here.”
The Apple Boutique was open for a short time. It operated from December 1967 to July 1968. Despite its brief existence, it became a cultural touchstone. The Beatles intended it to be more than just a store. Paul McCartney said it would be “a beautiful place where beautiful people can buy beautiful things”.
The band hired The Fool. This design collective created a psychedelic mural on the building’s exterior. Neighbors complained about the colorful design.
