Born in 1999 Elías Romero’s life took an unexpected turn. Diagnosed with myelomeningocele he faced a challenge. He couldn’t walk. Yet this didn’t stop him. Elías found his passion at Cedima. This is the Centro de Discapacitados de La Matanza. He started playing table tennis at just seven years old. His family supported him. His father Ruben took him to Cedima three times a week. They had limited resources. The journey was often by bus or shared taxi rides.
Elías’ talent shone. At thirteen he joined the Argentinian junior team. His first Parapan American Games experience in Buenos Aires was unforgettable. He received a sports bag.
