Today nine of these restored houses form the luxurious Hagia Sophia Mansions Istanbul a Curio Collection by Hilton hotel. Each house has a unique name. They’re named after the flowering shrubs that grace their courtyards. The Jasmine House The Wisteria House and The Honeysuckle House are just a few examples. These beautifully restored interiors feature 19th-century furniture. Silk curtains velvet armchairs and gilded mirrors add to the luxurious ambiance. Even Queen Sofia of Spain stayed here for four nights in the spring of 2000.

One house even houses the Istanbul Kitaplığı a library filled with over 10000 books about Istanbul. This remarkable collection is a testament to the city’s rich cultural heritage.
And if you look carefully you will find an ancient Byzantine cistern. It’s located at the end of the street towards Gülhane Park. Today it houses the Sarnıç Restaurant. So as you enjoy your meal imagine the echoes of centuries past.
