East Finchley Baptist Church

In 1877, a seed was planted. This seed, the East Finchley Baptist Church, first took root as a humble iron chapel on Long Lane. East Finchley Baptist Church has blossomed and grown over the years. It moved to Hertford Road in 1889, a building now occupied by Springers Nursery. Then, in 1902, it found a new home on Creighton Avenue. A beautiful gothic grey flintstone church was built. This building still stands beside the current church. Can you picture the congregation, finding solace within its stone walls? East Finchley Baptist Church continued to evolve. In 1931, the present red brick church arose. The older flintstone structure became a space for Sunday school and youth activities. The flintstone building was eventually sold in 1988. The current East Finchley Baptist Church was then modernized and extended in 1990, creating the welcoming space you see today. Throughout its history, twelve pastors have guided the East Finchley Baptist Church, each leaving their unique mark. Today, Pastor Simon Dyke leads the congregation, continuing the church’s mission to make Jesus Christ known. The church’s history is a testament to its enduring spirit, adapting and growing to serve the community. It’s a place where people of all ages and backgrounds are welcomed. They come together to explore their faith and become devoted followers of Jesus.
