It served a growing Catholic community in North Riverside after World War II. Before the church was completed parishioners attended Mass at Komarek School. Father A H Menarik became the first pastor. He was known for his love of fishing. He even mounted a fish he’d caught in the school basement. This space was later renamed Menarik Hall in his honor.
