Tucked in Seattle’s Roosevelt Neighborhood, Calvary Christian Assembly has witnessed the city’s evolution since 1927. Calvary Christian Assembly isn’t just a church. It’s a living testament to Seattle’s history. It has been part of the fabric of this community for nearly a century. Originally, the church reflected the Scandinavian heritage prevalent in the area, aligning with the Pentecostal movement of the early 20th century. Calvary Christian Assembly, then known as Hollywood Temple, affiliated with the Assemblies of God in 1934. The church’s commitment to education led to the founding of Northwest Bible Institute within its walls. This institute eventually relocated to Kirkland and became Northwest University. In 1951, Calvary Christian Assembly constructed its current building on Roosevelt Way Northeast. This proved providential. The construction of I-5 in 1959 demolished the former building. The church has undergone two name changes. First in 1949 to Calvary Temple. Then in 2003 to its current name, Calvary Christian Assembly. Throughout these changes, its dedication to being a “HUB of HOPE” has remained constant. Today, with the new light rail station just a block away, Calvary Christian Assembly stands at a strategic point in the city. It embraces the challenge of fostering authentic Christian community in Seattle’s vibrant urban landscape. Inside, you’ll find a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The Gathering service at 10:30 am offers a blend of contemporary and traditional worship styles. Calvary Christian Assembly emphasizes the importance of preaching and fostering meaningful relationships. It’s common for people to linger long after the service concludes, engaging in conversations and building community.
