A symphony of rustling leaves. This is Adslev Skovkirke. It’s not your typical church with towering spires and stained glass. Adslev Skovkirke is an open-air sanctuary nestled within the ‘præsteskoven’, or priest’s forest. This unique woodland church was consecrated on a beautiful Sunday in August 2015. The journey to its creation began with the local parish council’s search for a special place within the forest to hold services. Once they found the perfect spot, they received a generous donation of freshly felled Douglas fir trees. These magnificent trees would become the foundation of Adslev Skovkirke. A skilled woodcarver named Martin transformed the trees into the altar and benches that grace this natural cathedral. He also carved a stunning cross from a large beech tree, positioned behind the altar as a symbol of faith. On that special day of consecration, members of the community carried sacred vessels and books to the altar, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the spiritual life of Adslev. The Adslev Skovkirke invites you to experience the divine within the embrace of nature. It’s a place where the rustling leaves and birdsong create a unique soundtrack for worship. The very air here seems to whisper of reverence and peace. May every service held in this forest sanctuary be a testament to its sanctity. May it be a place where the beauty of nature and the power of faith intertwine, enriching the lives of all who gather here at Adslev Skovkirke.
