Founded in 1965, Demeco has a rich history. Demeco started as a collective of moving companies. They banded together to form a network. The founders met at the initiative of the Tailleur company. They gathered in Paris to establish the company. The original name stands for “Déménagement en circuit organisé” (Organized Moving Circuit). The first headquarters was located on rue Maurice de la Sizeranne in Paris’s 6th arrondissement. Demeco quickly expanded throughout the 1970s. They launched national advertising campaigns and merged with the Danzas group. The iconic black horse logo appeared in 1978. This followed a merger with another moving network, DEM, run by the Meyer family of Versailles. In 1982, Demeco moved its headquarters to Saint-Mandé. They continued to innovate. In 1987, they adopted the Minitel system for management. Later, in 1999, they created a network-wide intranet. A significant shift occurred in 2003. Patrick Bornhauser, CEO of Groupe NASSE and a Demeco agent, acquired the brand. Pragma Capital then conducted a leveraged buyout of Groupe NASSE in 2007. This gave them majority ownership, but Bornhauser remained CEO. Demeco’s growth continued with the acquisition of several moving companies in the Rhône-Alpes region in 2014. This added eight locations, €15 million in revenue, and 116 employees. Today, Demeco remains a prominent name in the moving industry in France.
