Masjid Jami Nurul Kalam stands on Jalan Menteng Tenggulun. It is located in the heart of Jakarta Pusat. This area is a vibrant part of the city.
The story of Masjid Jami Nurul Kalam began in 1965. It was a time of significant change in Indonesia. The mosque became a place of gathering. Locals needed a place to practice their faith.
Masjid Nurul Kalam is a Masjid Umum. This means it is a public mosque. It welcomes all members of the community. It provides a space for prayer and reflection.
The land on which Masjid Nurul Kalam stands is Wakaf. Wakaf means it is a charitable endowment. The land was donated for religious purposes. This ensures the mosque remains a community asset.
The mosque’s dimensions are modest. The land area is 165 square meters. The building itself covers the same area. Despite its size, it holds a significant place in people’s hearts.
Between 50 and 100 people attend prayers here regularly. The mosque has two muazins. These are the individuals who call Muslims to prayer. Two khotibs deliver sermons. There are also about 10 young people involved in mosque activities.
In February 2025, the prayer schedule began at 3:36 AM for Shubuh. Dhuhur prayers were at 11:11 AM. Ashar followed at 2:28 PM. Maghrib prayers were at 5:21 PM. Isya’ concluded the day at 6:32 PM. These times reflect the daily rhythm of devotion.
Masjid Nurul Kalam has undergone changes over the years. It continues to serve its community. It provides a place for worship. It also acts as a center for community activities.
Masjid Nurul Falah started as a simple langgar. A langgar is a small prayer house. This langgar belonged to Guru Jaisan. It was not only a place for prayer. It was also a place for education. Children and adults came here to learn. During Indonesia’s pre-independence era, it served as a defense point.
In 1952, the langgar became a mosque. It stood on 400 square meters of donated land. The name Masjid Jami’ Nurul Falah was given in the 1960s. Ustaz Achmad Nairan chose the name.
The mosque was renovated in 1971. Further renovations took place in 1984. The current design was initiated during this time. Both Soedargo and Taufik, local architects, designed a modern building.
The renovation was completed in two years. On December 13, 1986, State Secretary Sudharmono inaugurated the mosque.
Currently, Masjid Nurul Falah is expanding. The expansion is on the north side of the main building. This new two-story building will accommodate about 300 worshipers.
