Established on March 13, 1988, GPIB “Sawangan” Depok stands as the 184th independent congregation of the Protestant Church in Western Indonesia. The name “Sawangan” was chosen for GPIB Sawangan Depok to connect with the local community. “Sawangan” also translates to “Gotong Royong,” reflecting the spirit of cooperation and mutual assistance within the community. GPIB Sawangan Depok has played a significant role in establishing other churches, including GPIB “Kartika Sejahtera” Tajurhalang. Over the years, many pastors have served GPIB Sawangan Depok. Reverend Deetje Siregar-Simaela was the first Chairperson of the Congregation after its establishment, serving from March 13, 1988, to August 1, 1989. The current Chairperson, Reverend Emmawati Y. Rumampuk-Baule, began her service on May 1, 2022. Numerous other pastors have also contributed their service to the church. They have served as both Chairpersons and Congregation Pastors, shaping the spiritual life of GPIB Sawangan Depok.
