Envision Lakeside College in its early years. It’s 2006. The campus is still new, nestled in the growing community of Pakenham. Lakeside College isn’t the first Lutheran school in the area though. A small church and school opened in Hessel Road back in 1836. German settlers founded these institutions. They wanted to educate their children according to their beliefs. Fast forward to today, and Lakeside College is part of a much larger story. It’s connected to Lutheran Education Australia. This network includes 83 schools and over 40,000 students across the country. Lakeside College itself serves students from preparatory to Year 12. The school’s motto, “Learn. Care. Achieve. Giving Glory to God and Serving the World in Love,” reflects its core values. This motto guides the school’s approach to learning and student life. Lakeside College offers a diverse curriculum. Math and English classes are a mix of streamed and mixed ability groups. German is taught as a language other than English. For senior students, the college offers a robust VCE program with 20 level 3/4 studies and caters to around 35 VCE students. There’s also a VET program with several options, serving about four students. Lakeside College also focuses on extracurricular activities. These range from academic support and arts programs to sports, music, and vocational programs. Students can participate in activities like the Annual Art Show, debating club, sports carnivals, and even a Human Powered Vehicle project. The school also emphasizes community service and spiritual development. Lakeside College has a diverse support system. This includes academic support staff, career guidance counselors, and wellbeing professionals. The college aims to provide a holistic education. It nurtures students’ academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth. Lakeside College changed its name in 2015. This marked a significant milestone in the school’s history. Robert Tassoni became Principal in 2023, bringing new leadership to the Lakeside College community.
