This was the original Eden Prairie Center. It housed familiar names like Sears and Powers Dry Goods. The latter even underwent a series of transformations, becoming Donaldson’s in 1985 and then Carson Pirie Scott in 1987. A Target store, connected by a charming walkway, joined the party in 1984. The 90s ushered in a wave of pastel pink and aqua. The once-white pillars were adorned with aqua casings. The food court, initially in a sunken basement, got a vibrant makeover with neon palm trees and a color-changing fountain. A major renovation in 2001 brought about a complete transformation. The Eden Prairie Center we see today, with its modern design, upscale feel, and impressive anchor stores like Kohl’s, Von Maur, and an expanded Target, stands as a testament to its evolution.
